3/9: Mark Maestry Finishes 6th At States!
Mark Maestry capped an outstanding junior year by taking 6th place in the 112-pound weight class at the NJSIAA Tournament in Atlantic City.
In the preliminary round, Maestry recorded an 8-1 decision Bishop Ahr's Derek Delacruz to set up a match with Billy Gould of High Point in the pre-quarters. Trailing by three late in the match, Maestry used a cement mixer to put Gould on his back and score the pin at 5:58.
Frank Cagnina of Queen of Peace knocked Maestry into the wrestlebacks with a tech fall in their quarterfinal bout, but Maestry picked up two more wins on Saturday to give him the 6th place finish.

3/1: Mark Maestry Advances To Atlantic City
Mark Maestry advanced to the finals of the Region 6 Tournament on Saturday to clinch a trip to Atlantic City for the NJSIAA Tournament. Maestry was defeated by Howell's Joey Langel in the final to take the 2nd place medal and will compete in Friday's opening round of States.
Teammates Mike Maestry, Mike Schumann, and Joe Birmingham had their season ended on Saturday. Mike Maestry was eliminated in the wrestleback quarterfinal and finished the year with a 29-6 record. Schumann and Birmingham both finished just one win shy of a Region medal by being eliminated in the wrestleback semifinals. For the year, Schumann was 24-13 and Birmingham was 20-14.

Mark Maestry became the 95th District Champion in Toms River South history, and the first since Keith Dillard in 2005, and helped lead the Indians to a 5th Place finish at the 2008 District Tournament.

Toms River South defeated Island Tree High School, but dropped duals to Petrides, Minnisink Valley, and Averill Park en route to finishing in 6th Place as a team at the Jim Wilson Duals in New York.
The Indians received 4-0 performances on the day from juniors Mark and Mike Maestry at 112 and 119, as well as senior Joe Riccio at 152.

3/9: Mark Maestry Finishes 6th At States!
Mark Maestry capped an outstanding junior year by taking 6th place in the 112-pound weight class at the NJSIAA Tournament in Atlantic City.
In the preliminary round, Maestry recorded an 8-1 decision Bishop Ahr's Derek Delacruz to set up a match with Billy Gould of High Point in the pre-quarters. Trailing by three late in the match, Maestry used a cement mixer to put Gould on his back and score the pin at 5:58.
Frank Cagnina of Queen of Peace knocked Maestry into the wrestlebacks with a tech fall in their quarterfinal bout, but Maestry picked up two more wins on Saturday to give him the 6th place finish.

3/1: Mark Maestry Advances To Atlantic City
Mark Maestry advanced to the finals of the Region 6 Tournament on Saturday to clinch a trip to Atlantic City for the NJSIAA Tournament. Maestry was defeated by Howell's Joey Langel in the final to take the 2nd place medal and will compete in Friday's opening round of States.
Teammates Mike Maestry, Mike Schumann, and Joe Birmingham had their season ended on Saturday. Mike Maestry was eliminated in the wrestleback quarterfinal and finished the year with a 29-6 record. Schumann and Birmingham both finished just one win shy of a Region medal by being eliminated in the wrestleback semifinals. For the year, Schumann was 24-13 and Birmingham was 20-14.

Mark Maestry became the 95th District Champion in Toms River South history, and the first since Keith Dillard in 2005, and helped lead the Indians to a 5th Place finish at the 2008 District Tournament.
Also placing for South were Mike Maestry (2nd Place at 119), Joe Birmingham (2nd Place at 189), Dan Venter (3rd Place at 152), and Mike Schumann (3rd Place at 171).
